Instead, we have to fight only when enemies are Crowd Controlled or when Flame Shield is active. Since we have to be in melee range to hit enemies with Frost Nova, we can't avoid every attack. Finally, if the Barrier solution fails (it will fail in high tier Nightmare Dungeons), then we are left with the "don't get hit" strategy.Against higher level enemies (found in Nightmare Dungeons), we need more Armor to reach same level of Damage Reduction, so we get some extra with %Total Armor rolls and Iron Skin Elixir. We naturally get Armor just from having high Item Power gear, and we further boost it with Skulls in Jewelry and Defensive Aspect of Disobedience. Armor is the major source of Damage Reduction, provided you can stack it high enough. If we can stack enough to make our Barrier survive a hit then everything is easy, as we can just cast Ice Armor and not worry about anything for 6 seconds. A lot of these stats can be found on Chests, Pants, Amulets, and some of our Paragon Boards. We stack as much of it as possible, mostly going for Damage Reduction, Damage Reduction from Close/Distant Enemies and Damage Reduction from Burning Enemies. Since a Barrier cannot exceed our Base Life, we can't bolster it any further by stacking Max Life or Barrier Generation. With our high and consistent damage output, the Barrier will instantly refresh as long as it's not broken in one hit. Mostly coming from Ice Armor, it is our main defense outside Nightmare Dungeons. Frost Nova is effectively 100% Close Damage Reduction against non-Bosses, Flame Shield makes you immortal and Ice Armor is Flame Shield with 3x the duration at best, or a protective layer that almost doubles your HP at worst. As with our damaging skills, our powerful Defensive Skills are not doing much if we cannot cast them. Conversely, using Adept would make the area of Blizzard 44% bigger, meaning our average DPS would go down by 31%. By using Aspect of the Frozen Tundra, we increase the Ice Spikes AoE by 125%, making them hit much more often. Ice Spikes pop up randomly inside Blizzard and they can often miss. Attack Speed can be a double edged sword, as it also increases your Mana consumption, so it's better to focus on other stats until your Mana is completely figured out. We want most of the normal offensive stats: Vulnerable Damage, Critical Strike Chance, Critical Strike Damage, Attack Speed, Intelligence, and all kinds of Additive Damage, in that order of priority. Your weapons can be as low as 725 item power and that won't affect your damage in any noticeable way. All you need is Glacial with a good roll on a high item power item. Unlike most builds, Blizzard Sorcerer doesn't scale off their weapons' DPS. Maximum Mana is helpful to easier utilize the Mage's Blizzard, but just one roll on the Helmet is more than enough. We need to stack enough Mana Cost Reduction and Resource Generation in order to spam Blizzard freely. The next skill we want to use is Blizzard, which has a Mana cost instead of a Cooldown. We continue to chase our philosophy of being able to use skills = good. More uptime on Immobilize from Flame Shield and Binding Embers (about 2x damage buff).More uptime on Stun from Teleport (about 1.5x damage).More uptime on Barrier from Ice Armor or Protection activating Conceited and Storm Swell (1.5x damage buff).More uptime on Vulnerable from Frost Nova (about 3.5x damage buff). What good are your skills if you can't use them because they are on cooldown? In purely offensive terms CDR gives us the following: This is the most important stat for any Sorcerer build. Note: You cannot gamble Unique items with Obols! Find the following Unique items by farming in Dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides.Don't hesitate to put it on a bad item because it will be easy to replace. We only use it for increased radius of Ice Spikes. This Aspect is a huge damage multiplier, but the roll on it doesn't matter at all. Find the following Legendary Aspects by farming in Dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, through the Tree of Whispers, or gambling with Obols:.Umbral in Champion's Demise ( Dry Steppes).Snowguard's in Fetid Mausoleum ( Hawezar).Ghostwalker in Broken Bulwark ( Scosglen).Storm Swell in Onyx Hold ( Dry Steppes).Disobedience in Halls of the Damned ( Kehjistan).Piercing Cold in Dead Man's Dredge ( Fractured Peaks).Unlock the following Aspects in your Codex of Power:.If you're below level 90, don't try to gamble for it because the items you gamble are gonna be too low level and their Aspect too weak. This Aspect is mandatory for the build to work and you need to find it before you even start. While we can guarantee, that everyone has access to the same Codex of Power Aspects, the progression might be different for everyone! Many of your Skill choices depend on what Legendary Aspects and Uniqueitems are available to you.
